Card making Christmas cards Christmas crafts Die cutting How to Papercraft Papercrafter Techniques Projects
3D makes like this pop-up reindeer card from Keren Baker may seem complicated, but in fact they’re very simple. The secret is to create a rectangular shape equally positioned above and below the central fold line, as Keren has done with her Christmas pop-up card. You can then attach any festive motif you like to the pop-up element, but we particularly love this stamped reindeer design.
YOU WILL NEED:
Dies: Mama Elephant Pop-Up, circles
Stamps: Lawn Fawn Critters In The Snow, Christmas sentiment
Ink pads: black, purple, blue; embossing
Embossing powder, white
Cardstock, various colours
Tools: heat, blending
Star sequins
Alcohol markers, various colours
Gel pen, white
Glue
Die-cutting machine
METHOD:
1. Create a 10cm circular blank. Die cut a 6cm white circle, 8cm purple circle and 10cm turquoise circle.
2. Lay a pop-up die from the Mama Elephant pack over the fold of the blank and run through a die-cutting machine. Push the cut-out edge from behind, fold the card flat and press along the folds.
3. Stamp, colour and cut three reindeer from the Critters In The Snow collection and embellish with red card collars. Using a blending tool, spread blue and purple distress inks onto the top part of the blank and spray water onto it.
4. Use a white gel pen to create snow and add star sequins. Attach one reindeer onto the pop-up part and the other two to the background scene.
5. Stamp and heat emboss a sentiment and adhere to the first reindeer. Stick the circles from Step 1 onto the base and clip slits into the shapes to allow them to sit around the pop-up section.
