Merge pennants with pom-poms to make a little but lovely home decoration
We’re not quite sure why, but some things are just better when they’re mini. They’re also better when they’re bursting with colour and made by Corinne Bradd. So, it should be a surprise to nobody that this fun-sized wreath project is an absolute knockout. It’s like a ray of sunshine in craft form, using a vibrant paper collection to fabulous effect. There are minimal materials needed too, making this a simple, quick and affordable delight.
Obed Marshall Especial collection: 12” x 12” Paper Pad, Mixed Embellishments
Circle dies: 8.5cm, 9.5cm
Cardstock
Cereal box
Tools: compass, protractor
Adhesives: 3D foam pads, glue
Die-cutting machine
1. Use a compass to draw concentric circles, 8.5cm and 17cm, onto cereal box card, then cut out. Glue onto another piece of cereal box card, trim again and add a third layer for extra stability if desired. Divide the circle into sixteenths with a pencil and protractor to make guidelines.
2. Trim 32 pieces of patterned paper, 2cm x 5cm, making at least four pieces from each pattern. Clip one end of each piece into an inverted ‘v’ shape. Fix the first 16 pieces around the edge of the wreath using the pencil marks as a guide. Layer the remaining pieces over the top so they sit in between the first ones.
3. Cut several 1.5cm x 4cm pieces from coloured card. Snip the ends as before and arrange in a ring on top of the patterned strips using 3D foam pads at the clipped end to raise them up. Trim 1cm x 3cm pieces from blue star paper and fix these on top to form the final ring.
4. Use 8.5cm and 9.5cm circle dies to create a 1cm ring of coloured card, then layer it over the inner ring of the wreath to neaten up if necessary. Arrange and fix small pom-poms in a pattern around the inner ring.
