In issue 73 of PaperCrafter (on sale now!) we talked you through creating more complex paper shapes. We devised a pretty paper scene from two easy types of 3D paper trees and a selection of animals from Make Your Own Woodland Creatures, by Clare Youngs.
Online template, Cereal box cardboard, PaperCrafter Studio Selection Paper Book, Decoupage glue (optional)
Embrace this issue’s whimsical woodland theme and whip up a cute hedgehog in your favourite papers — and for an even cuter touch, scale your template down to make some adorable babies!
• You can download the template by clicking on this link: Prickly Hedgehog Template. Print out the template and trace each piece onto thin cardboard of cereal box thickness.
• Cut out the different pieces, then cover each section with paper from your Studio Selection Paper Book, ensuring that both sides of each piece have been decorated. Optionally, use thin layers of decoupage glue to seal your shapes.
• Once you have your pieces, slot them together according to the following instructions, using the picture guide above to tell which slots correspond to the letters.
• Take the two leg pieces and slide slots a and c into slots b an d on the middle body section
• Slide slots f and h on one side section into slots e and g on one side of the leg pieces.
• Slide slots j and l on the other side section onto slots i and k on the other side of the legs.
• Take the tab with slot m and slide it into slot n on the head
• Slide the tab on the head into slot o on the body.
