Card making Techniques Card Making
Festive Friday is a special day for everyone who loves cards (especially those who enjoy making them) to send out their Christmas greetings to loved ones, which this year falls on 27th November. Not only will you have a fantastic time getting creative, but you’ll put family and friends into the festive spirit when the card pops through their letter boxes!
If you’re looking for ways to branch out and boost your crafty skills, try one of these fabulously festive ideas that use some of the most popular techniques in papercrafting.
• 1. Make a 13cm square gate fold blank from white card. Stick a 6.5cm x 13cm panel of tree patterned paper to the two outer panels, ensuring the patterns match up on both sides.
• 2. Create a 5cm circle from white card and affix it to the back of a cream doily. Cut another 5cm disc from blue patterned paper and attach it to the front of the doily using foam pads.
• 3. Cut a 0.5cm x 1cm rectangle of card and secure a small loop of red and white twine to the back. Attach this section to the top of the patterned circle with a foam pad to create a bauble. Affix this panel to the left of the card.
• 4 Trim a 13cm square from blue patterned paper and cut a 10cm circle from the centre. Stick this section to the inside of the card.
• This design is a lot easier than it first looks, and loved ones will enjoy displaying it proudly upon their mantelpiece. This type of greeting can still fold flat for easy posting, but is a surprising showstopper when it jumps out of the envelope!
• 1. Take a light grey blank from the kit and cut a large triangle from the front of the card, with the
highest point 1.5cm from the top, and bottom two points 1.5cm from the left and right edges and 3cm from the bottom edge.
• 2. Stick an 11.5cm x 16cm piece of cross patterned paper inside the card on the right-hand side. Trim a 'Love' sentiment and stick centrally below the aperture using a foam pad. Cut a 1.5cm star from silver foil and affix to the top.
• 3. Glue several small gems to the centre of several white crosses that show through the aperture.
• Pop-up box cards are very popular and they're perfect for those friends who you won't see to give a present, but deserve something a little more special than a normal card!
