Distress Stencil Card

Card making Die cutting Embossing How to Stamping Techniques Card Making

Ingrid Vichova mixes it up with die-cut stencils and inky distressed backgrounds. The key to an impactful design is to create a resist. This can be achieved by using white gesso or acrylic paint and heat embossing. Dye-based and black inks are then applied. They, however, will not work on areas that have been painted or heat embossed, thus creating a resist. Add to the effect by stamping designs onto the background and contrasting the edges of your card with black ink.

2. Sponge teal and aqua distress oxide inks over the top, wiping off any excess with dry tissue paper. Stamp the script design lightly in black ink, then sponge the edges of the panel with the same ink to create contrast.

3. Die cut doily flowers and leaves from white card, then lightly sponge the edges with pink distress oxide and black ink. Adhere the die-cuts to the bottom-right of the panel. Stamp ‘Thinking of you’ onto white card with black ink, cut out and fix below. Decorate the greeting with gems.
