The best way to give your celebrations your own look is to craft it yourself and there’s no better place to go to for all your handmade festive fripperies than your craft shop. Here we’ve whipped up a range of Scandi-themed decorations and gifting ideas all with products from One Stop Craft Shop to show you how easy it is to create a strong look from just one retailer.

As you can see we’ve wrapped gifts using Handmade Paper in dots and snowflake designs (£2.10 per 38cm x 56cm sheet) and finished them with Anita’s Everyday Spotted Ribbon in Radient Red (90p for 3m roll), all available from the online retailer. We’ve also added a crafty touch with our pressies and decs using decoupage, die-cutting and paper sculpting to create a super Scandi-inspired look.

METHOD: Decoupage boxes

Paint the mini gift box and small and medium nesting boxes and the large nesting box lid with linen acrylic paint and leave to dry.
Create your Christmas Decoupage boxes

Once dry, take the mini box and use a light pencil to trace around the top flaps onto the dotted decoupage paper. Cut out the shapes, leaving around a 0.5cm-1cm border. Cover each flap with Mod Podge and carefully place the paper over using a brush to iron out any bubbles or creases.

Measure the dimensions of the base of the mini box, then cover using Mod Podge, carefully allowing the two contrasting patterns to meet at the fold of the flap.

For the small nesting box, measure the top and sides of the lid adding 2cm to each side. Use these dimensions to cut out the dotted paper. Cover the lid with Mod Podge and lay the top flat in the middle of the cut-down decoupage paper. Make slices from where the paper ends at the top of the lid to the edge of the sheet. Fold over the sides and tuck in the paper on the underside. Repeat this for the lid of the medium nesting box using the cream fleur-de-lis decoupage paper and the large nesting box using the Scandi pattern paper.

Measure the dimensions of the base of the small nesting box, adding 5cm to each side. Use these measurements to cut out the Scandi pattern paper. Cover with Mod Podge and lay the base flat in the middle of the cut-down decoupage paper. As with the lid, slice from where the paper ends at the top of the base to the edge of the sheet to create flaps. Fold these flaps up the sides and tuck in the paper on the underside of the box. Repeat this for the medium nesting box using the cream fleur-de-lis decoupage paper.

For the large nesting box, simply paint the base with the dark red acrylic paint and leave to dry. You may want to use two coats of this.
