Papercrafter Techniques Wedding crafts
This year, we think the doily trend is going too be MASSIVE. So much so, that we thought we’d jump on the trend early and whip up some delightful decorations that could inject any room with a feminine and floaty touch.
Paper doilies, pack of 25, £9.99, razzledazzlerose.co.uk, Invisible thread, Scissors
Doilies are the perfect material for adding a hint of vintage to your celebration, and these pastel versions are a great contemporary alternative to the usual cream ones.
In fact, with homemade weddings and crafty table spreads soaring in popularity, we’re glad we got a sneak preview of these new products from Razzle Dazzle Rose.
Best of all, this project is super simple and fun too! In fact, once you’ve started you might not be able to stop. Just ask us….
Whether you’re preparing for a spring or summer celebration or just fancy brightening up a gloomy corner, these decs are just the ticket.
For an extra pretty touch, embellish your doily spheres further with crystal and pearl embellishments and lace edging — they will be perfect for summertime weddings. Tell your friends!
• Pair the doilies up into various combinations of complementing colours and corresponding sizes.
• Take two doilies and snip centrally into the middle of each one, stopping half way at the centre. Remember that for them to hang at the correct angle, you may have to snip into the centre of the raised outer pattern of the doily shape — or they may hang at a slanted angle.
• With these cuts made, the two doily shapes can now slot together. Take one doily and position it so the slit is within the top half and pointing upwards.
• Take the other doily, position so the slit faces downwards and fix together by turning the second doily 90 degrees, so the cuts can slot together. Work the second doily down to sit comfortably and it should form a four-sided sphere shape.
• Make these doily spheres in various sizes and pastel shades. Attach the spheres to invisible string, making sure you secure it to the first doily shape instead of the second. Once completed, arrange them into a visually pleasing arrangement to suit your occasion, hanging at different lengths.
