Layers upon layers
If it’s added interest you’re after, opt for Kitty’s layered look. It’s a simple yet effective way to create stand-out cards. First, decide on your overall colour scheme, then pick out five to six layers, and away you go. Your layers could consist of plain coloured card, patterned papers, glitter card, die-cut frames or even ink blended panels in different shapes and sizes. For even more dimension, consider adhering a couple of layers using 3D foam pads.

Dress to impress
It’s totally up to you on how you want to colour up the outfits for each of the girl motifs. Go for a simple block colour and incorporate some shading to add depth, pair two different colours together or apply subtle details like Kitty has done with her ‘Bunny cuddles’ card opposite. You’ll notice that she has created a polka dot dress by going over the coloured-in motif with a white gel pen – clever! You could also use Nuvo drops or glitter glue.

Use your stash
What have you got in your crafty arsenal that would work well as embellishments? Kitty’s use of ribbon adds a tactile feel, plus gems, pearls and enamel dots feature on most of her cards. Use an extra strong adhesive to fix gems to ensure they stay put. As for ribbons, we recommend using double-sided tape instead of a wet glue like PVA as this can often soak through the fibres. If you’re attaching a bow, then glue dots are the perfect choice.
