Try something new: decoupage

In a recent PaperCrafter poll we discovered that 41% of you loved decoupage, choosing it as your favourite paper craft! We can’t help but share your love for it, and we’ve been looking at different ways in which you can incorporate into your home.

Try something new: decoupage

The craft is simple, cheap, and stunning at the same time. You can either buy specialist decoupage glues or alternatively make your own, mixing three parts PVA glue with one part water - which is a cheaper method and also lacks the odd smell that some shop-bought glues have. Plus, you can monitor the thickness easily depending on what materials you’re using.

Decoupage can transform your card-making as you may well know, but it’s also a great technique for many home furnishings and decorative items alike - creating bespoke items that you would never see on the highstreet!

You also don’t have to restrict yourself to pricier decoupage papers. You can use magazines, newspapers, tissue paper and napkins. It’s anybody’s craft! Naturally, you may have to alter your technique depending on what you use; for instance, tissue paper is more prone to tearing and a thinner glue would be more fitting.

Why not try something new today? Don’t be disheartened if it takes you a few tries, or if you experience tears, finger prints or brush strokes. It gets easier and you’ll certainly notice an improvement in your makes as you keep on trying.
