PaperCrafter pin of the week

Every week a member of the PaperCrafter team tells you about their favourite image found on photo sharing site Pinterest. Today it’s the turn of Editor Ella Johnston with this pretty little pic.

PaperCrafter pin of the week

From Style me Pretty. Photography: Cameron Ingalls

I was really impressed with this image, originally from the website Style Me Pretty, because it shows you how to create a powerful impact with paper creations by using a simple crafty know-how.

A similar texture of paper (crepe and coloured tissue) is employed throughout the scheme, which not only unifies the honeycomb ball table decorations with the wall flowers but its light form also means it softens the tables and walls and doesn’t feel as solid or structural as similar makes created with a sturdier paper.

The clever, harmonious colour way also works really well, with soft mints, creams and pinks adding a lightness to the arrangement while allowing the hot pinks and reds to ‘pop’. I always try to create the odd contrast/highlight in my larger paper makes, so they look good from a distance and to create a bit of rhythm and interest overall.

What’s also great is, while the overall look is really high-end, the actual makes are very easy. The team at PaperCrafter have already had a bash at making honeycomb balls and paper flowers in issue 65 to great success (see below), with a bit of adaptation and the right colours this table gorgeous paper party design can be recreated!
