Create fab cards with our PaperCrafter kit

Combining Rachel Cave’s gorgeous summer party papers and the kit’s contemporary stripy straws, card maker Tracey Daykin-Jones has created two top handmade designs that are fun to make and receive. Cheerful and vibrant, they are absolutely perfect for birthdays and celebrations.

YOU WILL NEED

  • PaperCrafter 73 kit
  • PaperCrafter 73 Studio Selection Paper Book
  • Card, yellow, orange
  • Foam pads

Birthday candles

  1. Layer a red paper rectangle measuring 10.5cm x 16cm on the front of a green blank. Trim a 5cm x 10.5cm rectangular aperture as shown and stick blue patterned paper behind it.
  2. Trim three straws to 7cm and stick to the blue section. Cut out three flame shapes from yellow card and stick above the candles using foam pads.
  3. Cut out a ‘Congratulations’ sentiment, mount it onto orange paper and stick to the greeting card using foam pads

Pretty flowers

  1. Cut out a 10.5cm x 13.5cm panel of butterfly patterned paper and round the two bottom corners. Stick this to a rectangle of yellow card measuring 11cm x 16cm.
  2. Trim red paper to 8.5cm x 12.5cm. Round two corners as before and fix it on top of the butterfly panel.
  3. Snip three gold straws to 6cm, 7.5cm and 4cm. Fix to the card as shown. Cut three yellow flowers from patterned paper and stick at the top of each straw using foam pads.
  4. Embellish the flowers with tiny silver gems. Trim a ‘Hello’ sentiment and layer onto orange paper. Fix it to the top right.
  5. To finish, trim some white card to 11cm x 16cm and score a horizontal line 3cm from the top. Attach to the yellow card using double-sided tape above the scored line.
