We’ve rounded up all of our downloadables for the spookiest season of all and you’re in for a right trick or treat! This month we’re excited to bring you...
Papercrafting might bring us daily joy and happiness, but sometimes the moment comes when we’re daydreaming about a new project and oops! - the craft knife slips off-course. Not only can it ruin a papercutting or template, it can really sting.
That’s why we love Slice, the provider of all finger-friendly blades. What’s as amazing as its products is the fact that it was set up by founder TJ Scimone with his autistic son in mind, with 1% of its profits going to its research. Here are five handy handheld tools that won’t hurt you or the bank!
Shaped like a pen, cutting with the Precision Cutter can feel as familiar as drawing or writing. It’s excellent for detail work such as papercutting and with the good grip, it's non-slip and weighted for great control. Gliding through thin materials like paper, frisket film, and shrink wrap with ease, it also gets through tough clamshell packaging. Tiny and safe, but tough – sounds like the answer to our fiddly paper project prayers!
The Safety Cutter’s mouse-like shape fits nicely in our hand and enjoys a dead straight cut or large curved line. Like the Precision Cutter, it features the sturdy little micro-blade which is so safe we've even taken it in our carry-on baggage. It’s great for thinner materials such as lighter weight paper and foils.
3. The Craft Knife
Behold, Slice's craft knife. We all love a hobby knife; not only does it balance its own weight, Slice has cleverly designed it so that it doesn’t roll—it won’t make its way across your craft table or to the floor on its own. Any craft you fancy, this Slicer can do it, through myriad crafting materials including quilting appliqué pattern paper, vinyl, foam core, leather, and polycarbonate sheets. It’s also good for delicate materials like crêpe paper but tough enough for scratchboard.
4. The Ceramic Scissors
Every crafter needs a good pair of scissors, and Slice offers three ceramic scissors! The small, rounded tip scissors are a replacement for notoriously frustrating kids’ safety scissors and pleases us grown-ups too. Cut through felt, cotton balls, and construction paper to your heart's content.
5. The Pen Cutter
The handheld Pen Cutter is able to get into spaces that larger tools such as the utility knife can’t reach. Both of these craft cutters come in two handle designs: manual retraction and automatic retraction. The utility knife also comes in a smart self-retracting model, so you know you've got the best tool for the task.
6. And one for luck...
We also love the Precision Knife, a brilliant addition to the Slice line of craft cutters. This uses all sorts of craft blades which you can browse depending on your needs.
