Make three simple papercut artworks with our templates
PaperCrafter kit, PaperCrafter Studio Selection Paper Book, Online template from papercraftermagazine.co.uk, Tracing paper, Craft scissors, Craft knife, Adhesives, foam pads and PVA glue
The practice of paper-cutting can produce fantastic looking results. However, with such intricate designs, not to mention room for error, the craft can put some people off. We thought we’d take the fear out of the art-form by using one sheet of our large minty paper with our online templates to make a trio of paper-cut projects at three different skill levels. That way you can grow in confidence with each make.
• Download and trace the 'Splish Splash' template on to tracing paper with a heavy weight pencil.
• Place the tracing face down, so the pencil is on the reverse and the writing reads backwards.
• Position on the wrong side of one half the large tartan design minty paper. Secure tracing paper with masking tape and use a sharp pencil to transfer the image.
• Use scissors to cut out the cloud and raindrop shapes. Use a sharp craft knife for the text, remembering to cut the smaller pieces around the S shapes and on the inside of the Ps and As in the text first.
• Mount the image and words onto patterned turquoise paper with PVA glue as shown.
• Download and trace the 'Little Tweet'template on to tracing paper with a heavy weight pencil.
• Place the tracing face down, so the pencil is on the reverse, on the wrong side of an 11.5 x 16cm section of the large tartan design minty paper. Secure the tracing paper with masking tape and use a sharp pencil to transfer the image.
• Position the paper pattern-side down onto a cutting mat. Cut out the image carefully with a craft knife, remembering to slice more delicate areas such as the eye, wing and spaces between the leaves first.
• Affix the cut-out image onto a pink card blank with foam pads.
• Download and trace the 'Birds in Tree'template following the same process as with the Little Tweet design from steps 1-2.
• Mount the image onto the crimson distressed patterned paper with foam tags.
